Hello John! Benjamin Asselin of ape.drape.studios has created the perfect Kenner-style John Hammond figure, one of the key characters that remained unproduced in the 90’s Jurassic Park toyline. As illustrated in the gallery below, he first created the original sculpt in wax before casting it and mass producing this incredible custom piece for a extremely limited release. Hammond features authentic Kenner Jurassic details like the classic five points of articulation and a “JP” ID card molded onto the figure, as well as his signature amber-encrusted cane.
What makes Benjamin’s creation impressive beyond it’s spot-on vintage aesthetic is the fact that he managed to replicate his Hammond figure more than a dozen times to make it available to collectors. While his previous production runs have quickly sold out, Benjamin notes that Hammond will be returning in 2019 in a big way. We can’t wait to see what’s in store!
What happened to this creator? Is this lost forever now, was there not going to be follow ups?
How do we get one of these bad boys on order? I cannot find a point of contact for Ape.Drape.Studios. This thing is awesome!
Cheers
Follow them on their instagram, a new batch of these may show up soon for preorder!
Awesome job. Lex is long overdue for a figure as well. Such a shame Kenner never got around to making either back then.
This figure looks awesome! Makes me hope for a Mattel John Hammond one day.
