2021’s NEW Jurassic World Dino Escape Toys from Mattel

What’s next for Mattel’s Jurassic World toyline as we approach the end of 2020’s Primal Attack reign? Normally at this point in the year, it would be pretty clear idea on what figures were on the way for 2021 — but we know too well, this year has been anything but typical! With COVID-19 pandemic’s rippling effects on everything from trade events to supply chains to movie release dates, the immediate future of Mattel’s Jurassic toy plans have remained largely unknown. While that is still the case in terms of specific release details, we are thrilled to report on what collector’s can expect as we head into 2021.

After 2018’s Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom toy tie-ins, Mattel carried the brand over into an “evergreen” format in 2019 and 2020. First came Dino Rivals, then this year’s Primal Attack, and up until recently it was expected that next would be another movie tie-in for Jurassic World Dominion. Then came COVID, and its inevitable delay of the third Jurassic World film into 2022.  What does this mean for the multitude of in-development Dominion toys and merchandise? We may never know the full story, but rest assured a major pivot most likely occurred in conjunction with Camp Cretaceous’s success on Netflix and the unfortunate film delay. All which brings us to what we can expect next year in terms of Jurassic toys!

Presenting Jurassic World Dino Escape! This latest sub-collection name looks to not only be the face of 2021’s Mattel Jurassic action figure line, but also for a larger assortment of Jurassic toys and collectibles. Via an official trademark filing from Universal, we cans see that Dino Escape will apply to a variety of merchandise going forward. Its connection Mattel’s toys is corroborated by the official product descriptions for some of next years’ assortments as well, which we will head into next. Let’s take a closer look at what’s on the way for Jurassic World toy collectors:

AND MORE?

While Wild Packs, Human Packs, Roar Attacks and Mega Destroyers all seem to be fairly safe bets for next year, there was undoubtedly more planned at some point before Jurassic World Dominion’s release delay. The question is where some of those planned figures will still be made available under the Dino Escape banner. All-new figures for popular over-sized species like T-Rex and Mosasaurus were all rumored to be in the works along with new Super Colossal releases, all of which may be up in the air now due to the situation with Dominion. Collect Jurassic will of course stay updated with the latest details as they become available.

Before we conclude, it must be stressed that essentially all of this release information is preliminary and subject to change. Even without a global pandemic, toy companies like Mattel typically shift, tweak and outright cancel planned toys over the course of their development. With that in mind, please take the above details with a healthy dose of speculation — expect some specifics to change due to current the COVID-19 situation and the toy industry itself.
