So – we have a plethora of new sets to digest, and I have to admit that I am very excited for the contents of this brand-new wave. I love how the designers really appear to have gone back to the drawing board with this wave, creating an assortment of sets which feel much more grounded and therefore much more realistic. There is no extremely large or cumbersome capture vehicle here – just plenty of realistic designs with a fun sprinkling of structure added to the assortment. Of the most interesting note here is the prevalence of Rainn Delacourt – a character who appears in three of the main line sets here. Given his prevalence across these sets we are willing to bet that he is the main bad of Jurassic World Dominion (and is likely played by Scott Haze), but beyond that we know very little about him which gets us even more excited for the film! We also have the addition of Soyona Santos who is likely to be the character played by Dichen Lachman – but, again, we know little about her at this point!
The sets themselves are fantastic. We get the Quetzalcoatlus which is an animal I never thought would get the LEGO treatment, and we also get two different colour variations for the brand-new Atrociraptor mould. Both of these look equally as great as each other and I am very excited that LEGO decided to delve deep by giving us more new moulds as it really expands the assortment out there. It’s also worth noting the sheer diversity in minifigures and characters throughout these sets – including new variants of Owen, Claire, Maisie and more as well as all the new characters mentioned. We also get Kayla who we have seen plenty of in the recent trailer – another great addition here. Even more exciting additions come in the form of some printed US Fish and Wildlife Service tiles in the biggest juniors set, and also some new Baby Velociraptor moulds in the chase set. Given their printing I almost wonder if these are intended to be Compies which is a fun addition.
I could gush about these sets for ages, but ultimately I am very excited for them and cannot wait to sink my teeth into them. All of the sets mentioned in this article will be widely available starting April 17, 2022 on LEGO.com, in LEGO Retail Stores and at major retailers worldwide.
